Variegated Bluebeard

Botanical Name:  Caryopteris Divaricata 'Snow Fairy'
Plant Family: Mint (Lamiaceae)

Description:   An attractive woody shrub with showy variegated leaves grows to 3 ft.. Produces masses of tiny blue flowers late in the season, but blooms are short lived.  

Growing Conditions: Full sun, average to moist soils.  Moderately tolerant of dry sites and drought.


Bloom Time: Aug, Sep
Bloom Color: Deep blue

Benefit to pollinators/wildlife: Visited by a wide range of pollinators when in bloom.

Native Status: From East Asia, though not known to be invasive

Location in habitat: Pollinator Demonstration Garden
