Thyme

Botanical Name:  Thymus Praecox (Mother of Thyme)
Plant Family: Mint (Lamiaceae)

Description:   Widely known for its culinary uses, thyme is an attracts a variety of native bees.  Forms low growing dense mats that spread rapidly.  Produces small pink or white blooms 

Growing Conditions: Easily grown from seed in average, moist, or well draining soils. Full sun.


Bloom Time: May - Jul
Bloom Color: White, pink

Benefit to pollinators/wildlife: Attracts a variety of native bees and butterflies.  

Native Status: Native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean

Location in habitat: Pollinator Demonstration Garden
