Botanical Name:  Ratibida pinnata
Plant Family: Aster family (Asteraceae)

Description:   Also known as Mexican Hat.  Bright yellow flowers featuring heavily drooping petals around a tall domed center crow on long slender stems from 3 to 5 ft.  Blooms hold for a long period in summer.  Mixes well with tall grasses in a prairie setting.

Growing Conditions: Tolerates poor soil, dry and rocky sites. Commonly found in prairies, thickets, and woodland edges.  Full sun or part shade.

Bloom Time: Jul - Aug
Bloom Color: Yellow

Benefit to pollinators/wildlife: Especially attractive to native bees.

Native Status: PA native

Location in habitat: Pollinator Demonstration Garden
