houserville elementary school pollinator habitat

This habitat was established in Fall of 2014.

Picture
Students created mini-greenhouses by recycling milk jugs. They planted native perennial seeds that would germinate, inside the jugs, which wintered out in the open. The seedlings received moisture from rain and snow, and the plastic cover kept them warm.
Picture
A few months later, the seeds have grown into tough seedling plants ready to move into the garden.
