Elecampane

Botanical Name: Inula Helenium
Plant Family: Daisy (Compositae)

Description: A 3-5 ft. perennial topped with 15-25 yellow 2-3 inch flowers.  Plant is rather ridged, leaves are large and toothed. Only the lower leaves have stalks, upper leaves attached to plant.     

Growing Conditions: Can grow in full sun to part shade on a variety of soils.

Bloom Time: July through September
Bloom Color: Yellow

Benefit to pollinators/wildlife:  Attracts butterflies.

Native Status: Native to Europe and Asia

Location in habitat: Pollinator Demonstration Garden
